Nursery / 1S

The nursery kids (birth – 12 months) and 1s class (12-24 months) receive exceptional care during their time in class.  Your little one is prayed over in addition to having playtime and singing each week. We know that even at this young age, our children are soaking in so much information!  We begin playing games with them to help connect how much God loves them.

Preschool

Our preschoolers (ages 2-5) engage in worship each week through dancing, singing, big movements, crafts, and imaginative play.  The more they can experience God through their senses, the more they process what they are learning!  We keep our lessons based around these 3 basic truths that we want our children to know by the time they enter kindergarten:
  • God made us
  • God loves us
  • Jesus wants to be our friend forever

Elementary

Elementary students (K – 5th grade) engage in a large group worship environment where they sing and hear a Bible story each week.  They then break into age-appropriate small groups where they talk about the Bible story and apply it to their own lives.  Weekly lessons are related to 3 basic truths that we want our kids to know by the time they reach middle school:
  • I need to make the wise choice
  • I can trust God no matter what
  • I need to treat others the way I want to be treated

Commonway Kids Service

  • Service:

Our kids are invited to engage in a service opportunity each month. We frequently visit residents in a nursing home and help clean a local soup kitchen. We’ve also done some yard work in the summertime for others needing it! It is our strong desire to help our kids see the importance of serving others as a way of serving Christ! We believe that if our kids have the value of serving instilled in them at this age, they will continue to want to serve others as they continue to grow.

    Kids Serving Kids

Our 4th and 5th graders are invited to be a part of Kids Serving Kids – a servant-leadership position. They can buddy-up with younger kids, run the computer for our Bible story time, serve as greeters, or even help lead worship.

Jill Dubois Bio (Commonway Kids)

  • Jill grew up on a farm near Wabash, Indiana, and made her way to Muncie to study elementary education at Ball State.  After graduating in 2003, she decided to stay in the area to teach and help lead a college student ministry with her husband, Kevin.  Soon after the birth of her first son, Jill transitioned from the classroom to staying at home full time.  She finished her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education in 2011, and she has now taken on the role of Children’s Ministry Director for Commonway. When she’s not spending time with her husband and kids, she also enjoys spending time with extended family, traveling in and out of the country, and spending time with friends near and far.
