Patrick Henry once said, “The Bible…is a book worth more than all the other books that were ever printed.” As Christians, we hold the Bible as particularly important, a centerpiece of our faith. No book has been printed or read more widely than the Bible. In our lifetime, technology has made the Bible more accessible than ever. In fact, if you have a smartphone with the Bible App installed, you aren’t just carrying one Bible with you—you are carrying over 1000 Bible versions in more than 700 languages in your pocket. And it’s free!

But have you ever struggled to understand the Bible? Even with all of this accessibility, and even though we know (or at least have been told) the Bible is powerful and the “living Word” of God, we all experience times where reading the Bible feels like an unfathomable puzzle, a daunting task, or a guilt-inducing chore. For many, it has never seemed like anything beyond a challenging enigma.

On Saturday, November 21, we’re hosting a new workshop called, “Explore: Bible Study. Over the many centuries since the Bible was formed, followers of Jesus have developed tools and processes for engaging with Scripture. During “Explore: Bible Study,” we will walk through one particular process for studying the Bible, a method called Inductive Bible Study.

With four basic steps, you will develop the skills (or “lenses”) and confidence to study the Bible on your own and with others. Inductive Bible Study is the foundation Matt uses to prepare his messages each week, and he will bring insight and wisdom we can all benefit from as we integrate Bible Study into our own spiritual lives.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer once described the Bible as “a ship loaded to the very limits of its capacity.” When we develop the skills and discipline to engage with the Bible, God can use Scripture to fill us with a sense of wonder and gratitude for the wisdom He has written in these pages. The Bible is source of joy, comfort, strength, encouragement and much, much more.

Join us for “Explore: Bible Study” on Saturday, November 21, from 9:00am-12:00pm at the Innovation Connector.

“Explore” is an all-new series of workshops, conversations, and trainings designed to help us dig deeper and reach wider into the disciplines, resources, and relationships that can help us find hope along the path of following Jesus. Our aim is to give you practical tools and perspectives to integrate your faith into everyday life. We look forward to your feedback and can’t wait to explore more with you in this series.
