“…so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.” John 13:4-5

From one perspective, a church is a group of people serving one another. As we look to the example of Jesus, we see how even the Son of God himself came to serve. So it makes sense that one of our core values is generous service.

Generous service is not something we have to do, it’s something we’re blessed to do. The interesting thing is you can only understand that reality by stepping into serving others. The joy of service isn’t something that can be explained; it has to be experienced. Not only do we become more like Jesus when we serve, we also are given something in return. We are filled with joy and meaning because we get to play a part in a story much bigger than our own.

Whether you are serving your family, you have a posture of serving others at work or school, or you are investing in the lives of people in your community, the opportunities to serve are around us every day. We also have many natural ways for you to serve at Commonway.
