The role of the Youth Pastor is to oversee the youth ministry strategy at Commonway Church. This will require the ability to work with volunteers and partner with parents to lead students to a genuine sense of belonging, involvement, and spiritual growth.
The primary responsibilities of the job include:
Create and cultivate a youth program that results in ongoing spiritual growth of middle and high school students by
-Building a deep foundation of spiritual formation and discipleship with a particular focus on middle school students,
-Empowering parents to disciple their own students,
-Developing, Empowering, and Deploying an adult volunteer youth ministry team that prioritizes building relationships and mentoring students,
-Planning and leading the Sunday evening experience that is welcoming and engaging for all students,
-Planning and overseeing vibrant youth small groups,
-Creating student ownership by developing opportunities for students to have leadership roles in weekly meetings and other events,
-Cultivating and coordinating opportunities for students to engage in the struggle of the poor, vulnerable, and oppressed, and
-Organizing and promoting summer trips for both middle and high school students such as retreats and camp events.
Additional responsibilities include
-Attending and participating in weekly staff meetings,
-Attending weekend services at Commonway,
-Belonging to a small group,
-Managing annual youth budget, and
-Attending to additional responsibilities as determined by the Lead Pastor.
Status: Full-time, salaried
Hours: 40 per week
Salary range: Commensurate with education and experience
Benefits: Health insurance at hire and retirement at 12 months
Education preferred: Bachelor’s degree or higher
Experience preferred: 2 years+ in a related field
