Great things are happening in Commonway Kids!

Our preschoolers (2 through 5 year-olds) are getting ready to jump into a very fun October. Checking their secret identities at the door, they will be transforming into Super Kids! The preschoolers will be learning that God will help them to be courageous, even when things look scary or hard. Sometimes we need to know we can trust that God will be there to save the day during those hard times. What super hero costume would not be complete without a cape and mask? They will be able to take their costume at the end of the month to help them continue to be brave in whatever they do knowing that God is with them and will not leave them. We’ll be learning Deuteronomy 31:6 as our theme verse for October: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid … for the Lord your God goes with you.”

Did You Know: Last Sunday, we had over 100 kids at in our classrooms - what an amazing opportunity! And we could use your help. If you love to hold babies or want to help our kids learn about Jesus once a month, click here and let us know.

cw kids 4Our elementary class (Kindergarten – 5th grade) will be looking at how uniquely God made each of them, and even more importantly, He created each of them to be able to use those gifts for a purpose! After just wrapping up a month long study of what it means to take an initiative, it is our hope that our kids will know that they can take a step to see how they can use their God-given gifts to uniquely meet a need in our own community. We want our kids to know that they can make an impact for the kingdom of God RIGHT NOW, even as a child. These kids are great at coming up with ideas…Let’s help them foster these thoughts and put them into action! This month’s memory verse will help encourage them with this, too! 1 Timothy 4:12a  says, “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young. Set an example for the believers in what you say and in how you live.”

In a little over one month, we’ll be dedicating a group of sweet little ones on a Sunday morning. If you would like your child to be included in this service, click here and let us know!

cw kids 1Our elementary class recently made a visit to a local nursing home
to play BINGO, sing, and pray with the residents there. It’s fun to see relationships start to form with the residents who we’ve seen repeatedly! We’ll be doing another Kids Serve  project later in October where we’ll do some leaf raking and yard work! Details will be coming soon.

We also will start collecting donations for Operation Christmas Child again soon. Each year, our kids all fill about 100 shoe boxes stuffed with tangible gifts to send to children all over the world so that they might have a gift to open at Christmas. Our students love this each year!
