Matt talked about Jeremiah 17:9. NLT
“the human heart is the deceitful and hard to understand.”

  1. How has your own heart deceived you in the past?
  2. Experience is a good teacher, share a time when you knew God was telling you to make a certain choice and you chose differently? How did that turn out?
  3. Like question 2, experience is a good teacher, share a time when you did choose what God wanted and how that turned Out?
  4. Proverbs 16:2 NLT says, “people may be pure in there own eyes but the Lord examines the heart”. How are you wired to make choices? (God, money, family, time) What influences your choices most?
  5. If you are comfortable enough, talk about the choices you are struggling with right now.
  6. Do you believe God has my best interest at heart?

The main idea for this series is: Living a life with open hands is how God works in us and through us. Today’s key words: Grace and Truth. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14 Today's Application: How do I live with open hands when it comes to the grace and truth of Jesus? 1. Start by looking again at Jesus. 2. Where am I lacking in grace and truth? 3. Where can I live more fully with his grace and his truth?

From Series: "Open Hands"

Open hands are often symbolic of humility while closed hands are often symbolic of control. Each is a worthy word picture of what often happens in our hearts and how we live our lives. As we follow Jesus, this is the question that we are faced with. How do we live with a posture of open hands so that Christ can work in us and through us? Join us for this new series as together we learn to live like Jesus with open hands.
